The Kogi State Executive Council presided over by  Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has approved a series of far-reaching decisions aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing public safety, and ensuring access to essential social services across the state.

‎Speaking to Journalists after the expanded Council Meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo said the directives mandate all Commissioners to provide three functional boreholes each within their respective local government areas.

‎He noted that the initiative is designed to improve access to clean and safe drinking water, particularly in rural communities where potable water supply remains a challenge.

‎He noted that the Governor emphasized that the borehole project underscores his administration’s commitment to delivering tangible benefits to the grassroots and addressing basic social needs across the state.

‎Similarly, Council granted approval for the procurement and distribution of transformers across the three senatorial districts of the state.

‎The intervention aims to boost electricity supply and address persistent power challenges in communities experiencing low power supply or total power outage.

‎According to the Council’s resolution, the transformers will be allocated based on identified needs to ensure fair distribution and immediate impact.

‎Meanwhile, in a move to enhance road safety and ease traffic congestion in the state capital, the Council also approved a restriction on the movement of articulated vehicles within Lokoja during daytime.

‎The decision follows concerns over frequent traffic disruptions and road accidents involving heavy-duty trucks on major highways traversing the state capital.

‎Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to pursue policies and projects that directly improve the living standards of Kogi residents.

‎He called on all members of the Executive Council to ensure diligent implementation of the approved measures, assuring that the state government remains committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusive development.
