The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), Federal University Lokoja Chapter, has commended the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his consistent support and recognition of students in the state’s development agenda.
The new President of the chapter, Comrade Comrade Yahaya Shehu Ojima-Ojo stated this at the inauguration ceremony for new executives, held at the University Multipurpose Hall, Felele Campus in Lokoja.
Comrade Ojima-Ojo commended Governor Ododo for creating an enabling environment for student organizations to thrive and contribute meaningfully to leadership development and the progress of the state.
“We sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for always supporting students unionism and recognizing NAKOSS as a vital platform for student representation in Kogi State,” he said.
“Through his inclusive policies, the governor has given students a voice, a platform to lead, and an opportunity to contribute to nation-building.”
He pledged that his administration would be anchored on purpose-driven leadership, transparency, and fairness, with student welfare and academic advancement as top priorities.
“Leadership is not about position; it is about purpose,” he stated. “Our goal is to ensure that every member feels represented, empowered, and valued. We will continue to mirror the kind of leadership and positive change we all aspire to see in Nigeria.”
Highlighting the significance of the ceremony, Ojima-Ojo described the event as a renewed commitment to unity, representation, and progress among Kogi State students.
Earlier, immediate past president of the association, Comrade Aliyyah Orahachi Otokiti, in her valedictory remarks, congratulated the new executives and urged them to uphold integrity, discipline, and selflessness in the discharge of their duties.
“NAKOSS is not a tribal union. It is a body that unites students through oneness and positive inclusivity,” she emphasized. “I urge the new leaders to always put the welfare of students above personal interests.”
The event concluded with the new executive team reaffirming their dedication to service and inclusivity under what the president described as “an administration of purpose, progress, and people.”
The inauguration which marked the beginning of a new administrative tenure for the 2025/2026 academic session was attended by members of the university community, past NAKOSS executives, and representatives of other students’ bodies in the state.
