Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on citizens and corporate organisations to lend greater support towards building a safer, stronger and prosperous Kogi State.
Governor Ododo disclosed this at the flag off distribution of operational vehicles to security agencies in the state at the Government House in Lokoja on Monday.
The Governor acknowledged the contributions of patriotic individuals who have continued to donate vehicles and other forms of logistics to support the state’s security architecture, stressing that safeguarding Kogi state from criminal elements is a shared responsibility.
While emphasizing the importance of public support in the fight against insecurity, the governor stated that is importabt for the people to back the government to win the battle against security challenges.
“Today’s presentation of vehicles to our security formation marks another milestone in our collective commitment safeguarding lives, properties and investment for our dear state,” he added
He noted that the new operational vehicles are expected to improve patrol capacity, strengthen coordination among security agencies, and enhance response times—further boosting ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security throughout Kogi State.
Governor Ododo further noted that the gesture by the Kogi State Security Trust Fund reflects the importance of strong institutional framework in the collective efforts to secure the state.
“This intervention by the KOGI State Security Trust Fund is further proof that when Government’s institutions are strengthened and allowed to function, they deliver critical support to those who keep us safe,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting long-term security reforms in the state, adding that the Security Trust Fund has demonstrated strong capacity and therefore requires sustained investment.
Earlier in his address, Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Air Vice Marshal Umar Omeiza (rtd), described the provision of operational vehicles as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to securing every part of the state.
He commended Governor Ododo’s leadership, noting that
“The state has continued to witness improved coordination among security agencies, timely intervention and enhanced public confidence in the safety of lives and property.”
He also emphasized the need for proper maintenance and effective deployment of the vehicles.
The State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) also praised the governor for repositioning the Security Trust Fund and broader security interventions by the administration, noting that the provision of new vehicles is part of a deliberate strategy to stay a step ahead of criminals.
“This security trust fund is well positioned now to reach out to companies that are operating in KOGI State to be able to assist the state in providing the needed security for Kogi,” he added.
Also, the State Commissioner of Police, Bello Nazir Kankarofi, commended the governor for meeting the logistical needs of security agencies, describing the intervention as “the right investment.”
He assured that the vehicles would be deployed effectively to enhance security operations across the state.
