The Kogi State Government has commenced extensive road repairs and enhanced security operations to ensure smooth and safe travel for residents and visitors during the forthcoming festive season.
The State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), disclosed this while on an inspection tour of major points along the Abuja–Lokoja highway.
He stated that 7 kilometres of road have already been opened, with an additional 9 kilometres expected to be completed by December 10.
He stated that the repairs reflect the government’s commitment to improving mobility across key routes in the state.
Engr. Frank Renzo of Trucrete Solutions Ltd., representing the project contractor, expressed gratitude for the visit and confirmed that road patching between Abaji and Koto is currently in progress.
He added that the company is working diligently to meet the project deadlines.
On his part, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Tenimu Etuku, emphasized the state’s strategic role as a major traffic corridor.
He noted that the FRSC is preparing for increased vehicular movement during the Yuletide season and has put necessary traffic management measures in place.
The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Alesan Ebenezer, also assured the public of the agency’s readiness to collaborate with other security bodies to strengthen road safety and overall security throughout the festive period.
Omodara urged commuters to cooperate with construction workers and adhere to safety directives as efforts intensify to ensure safe and seamless travel across Kogi during the festive season.
