Gov Ododo’s First Year: A Blueprint for Leadership and Development

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has been hailed as a servant leader with impactful achievements across various sectors in just one year in office. This commendation was made by Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi, Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers, during the recently concluded Kogi State Leadership Retreat and Ministerial Briefing. According to Adeyemi, the retreat showcased the governor’s unpublicized accomplishments, positioning him as a silent achiever with footprints in all local government areas of the state.

Highlighting the governor’s achievements in healthcare, Adeyemi revealed that the administration has renovated and constructed 88 primary healthcare centers across the state. He further lauded the establishment of a psychiatric center at the Prince Abubakar Audu University Teaching Hospital in Anyigba, which he described as a testament to the administration’s emphasis on healthcare essentials. Adeyemi also noted the increase in enrollment in the Kogi health insurance scheme, attributing it to the public’s growing confidence in the state’s healthcare system.

The governor’s educational policies were also celebrated. Adeyemi pointed out the continuation of government-funded examination fees for students at all levels and significant investments in primary, secondary, and tertiary education. He praised these initiatives as transformative steps toward securing the state’s educational future.

Infrastructure development under Governor Ododo’s administration was another highlight. Adeyemi enumerated various road projects in communities such as Egbe, Isanlu, Lokoja Barracks, Adavi, and Okene, alongside erosion control projects in Kabba. These efforts, he stated, have directly improved the lives of residents and ensured better connectivity across the state.

The governor’s initiatives in tourism, culture, and youth development also earned accolades. Adeyemi praised the Kogi International Carnival, which elevated the state’s tourism profile, and commended the administration’s fight against drug abuse through the Ministry of Youths. He also highlighted the administration’s commitment to sports development and creating opportunities for the youth.

Looking ahead, Adeyemi expressed optimism about ongoing and future projects, including the construction of a new internet market in Lokoja and the approval of an international airport for Kogi State. He emphasized that these projects signal the administration’s dedication to innovation and sustainable development as it enters its second year in office.
