Macron Pledges Support for Nigerian Government in Fight Against Terrorism

French President Emmanuel Macron has reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Nigeria in tackling its escalating security challenges, especially the growing terrorist threat in the northern region.

In a message shared on X on Sunday, Macron disclosed that he had spoken with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, during which he expressed France’s solidarity with Nigeria as it confronts terrorism and other security concerns.

“I spoke with President Tinubu of Nigeria. I conveyed France’s solidarity in the face of the various security challenges, particularly the terrorist threat in the North,” Macron wrote.

He further stressed France’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Nigerian authorities and increase support to communities affected by violence.

Macron also urged other international partners to step up their assistance to Nigeria in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

His remarks come at a time when Nigeria continues to face worsening terrorist attacks across the northern region and rising insecurity in other parts of the country, prompting increased collaboration between the government and global allies to strengthen national security.
