The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has said its ongoing electronic registration exercise for party members is aimed at strengthening internal democracy, building a credible membership database and it is open to all who share the philosophy of the party.
Kogi state APC Chairman, Abdullahi Bello made this known on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting at the government house in Lokoja.
He said the registration is open to willing members and will be conducted at designated centres through authorised registrants and agents of the party in the state.
According to Bello, Members are required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN), Voter card, a valid email address, and date of birth to ensure the integrity, uniqueness, and credibility of each registration.
He added that authorised agents will assist members in capturing their details on the APC portal, and that the exercise serves as official registration pending issuance of permanent membership cards.
The APC chairman appealed to stakeholders and political appointees to provide a peaceful, conducive environment, urging them to mobilize members, ensure orderliness, security, and the prevention of misinformation to ensure the exercise is successful, adding that the party has nominated critical stakeholders in each senatorial zone to facilitate smooth implementation of the registration exercise.
The APC Chairman also reassured that all necessary tools, data support, and logistics have been provided to guarantee a smooth exercise, stressing that the exercise is important in building a credible APC membership database and prepare the party to win elections decisively in Kogi State.
Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade described the electronic registration as a welcome development and a call to service.
She urged members of the party to actively participate in the exercise by focusing on grassroots mobilisation to achieve the objective of increasing the number of members across the state.
She emphasized that digitalisation of party membership is critical in light of global trends and the rise of artificial intelligence noting that party membership can no longer be claimed without digital registration and called for effective supervision across wards and polling units to ensure a successful exercise.
