Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has commissioned GYB Model Science Secondary Schools in Nagazi, Adavi Local Government Area, and Okebukun in Kabba-Bunu LGA of the state.

The commissioning ceremonies held at both locations reflect the Governor’s commitment to revitalising the education sector by building on the legacies of his predecessor, Yahaya Adoza Bello.

Governor Ododo commended the former governor, for laying a solid foundation for education in the state.

He noted that the mega school initiative was conceived under the administration of former governor Yahaya Bello and is now being expanded.

The Governor said his administration has prioritised education as a key pillar of development through improved funding, clear policy direction, and strategic investments across all levels.

Governor Ododo described the GYB Model Science Secondary Schools as a testament to his administration’s resolve to raise a generation equipped with knowledge, character, and leadership capacity.

He reaffirmed his administration’s vision to position Kogi as a knowledge-driven state, adding that the schools were strategically located to ensure equitable access to quality education in a conducive learning environment.

The Governor also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for providing leadership that has enabled increased resources for infrastructural development across states.

He noted that the current administration at the federal level has demonstrated commitment to national growth and development, adding that Kogi State remains aligned with that vision.

In his remarks, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, commended Governor Ododo for prioritising education and transforming learning institutions in the state.

He described the upgrade of the schools into modern and well-equipped facilities as a significant step towards improving access to quality education.

The Minister noted that the establishment of GYB Mega Schools across the three senatorial districts promotes inclusivity and expands opportunities for students.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, commended the Governor for his dedication to the education sector, noting that the administration is leveraging education as a tool to combat poverty, insecurity, and social vices.
