Marcus Rashford came off the bench to help Barcelona strengthen their hold on the La Liga title race with a crucial win over Getafe.

The on-loan Manchester United forward capped a swift second-half counterattack with a clinical finish as Hansi Flick’s side capitalized on Real Madrid’s unexpected 1-1 draw against Real Betis.

The result leaves Barcelona 11 points ahead of their rivals with only five matches left, putting them firmly on course for a 29th league crown.

Fermin Lopez gave Barcelona the lead just before halftime, finishing off a brilliant through ball from Pedri.

Barcelona were missing star youngster Lamine Yamal, whose season was cut short by a hamstring injury suffered in the midweek victory over Celta Vigo. Despite that, Rashford started on the bench before entering the game in the 60th minute in place of Roony Bardghji.

With European qualification in sight, Getafe pushed hard for an equalizer in the second half, but Rashford sealed the contest with his seventh league goal.

A lofted pass from Robert Lewandowski found him in stride as Getafe were caught high up the pitch, and the England international showed remarkable composure to finish past David Soria and secure all three points.
