The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following reports of the death of popular Nollywood actor and model, Alexx Ekubo, at the age of 40.

News of his death surfaced on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, sparking emotional reactions from colleagues, fans, and other members of the entertainment industry. While details surrounding the cause of death were still unclear as of press time, several Nollywood actors confirmed the development through emotional tributes shared on social media.

Actor Mofe Duncan expressed shock over the incident, describing the news as heartbreaking.
“Oh Alex! Oh dear God, why?” he wrote.

Another Nollywood star, Bolanle Ninalowo, also mourned the late actor and prayed for strength for his family and loved ones.
“Rest on Alex. May God heal your family and us all,” Ninalowo wrote.
