Ododo Fuels Education: ₦10M Bursary Boost for Kogi Student Bodies

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has taken a decisive step to invest in the future of the state’s youth by disbursing bursary allowances to the leadership of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) and the National Association of Kogi State Law Students of Nigeria (NAKOLSON).

The ceremony, held at the Ministry of Education in Lokoja on Monday, saw over 10 million Naira in cheques handed over to the student associations as part of a broader initiative to bolster educational opportunities.

Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, Governor Ododo highlighted that this move forms a key pillar of his administration’s strategy to enhance collaboration with student organizations and to create an enabling environment for academic and social development.

He emphasized that the bursary support is aimed at offsetting operational costs and ensuring that students benefit from ongoing educational reforms and free education policies.

The disbursement is funded through annual dues collected from verified scholarship recipients, including 8,750 Kogi students and 201 law school students, reinforcing the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education.

This initiative is part of a wider plan to reduce the number of out-of-school children while enhancing the welfare and performance of those in active education.

In his remarks, Governor Ododo stressed the importance of empowering the youth as the foundation for future growth. He urged parents and community leaders to support the academic and leadership development of students, noting that a well-educated youth is crucial for the sustainable progress of Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
