The Kogi State Government has commended the Director-General of the Kogi State Social Investment Programme Agency (KOSSIPA) and founder of the My People First Empowerment Initiative, Aishat Omade, for donating a four-bedroom bungalow to a widow, Mama Salametu Shaibu in Obehira-Uvete, Okene Local Government Area.
The donation followed widespread public attention on social media regarding the beneficiary’s living condition.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo during the presentation of the house, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Taiye Abanika, described the gesture as a profound act of compassion and a demonstration of commitment to the welfare of vulnerable members of society.
He said the provision of a decent home for the widow aligns with the people-focused agenda of the Ododo administration, which places premium on the dignity and well-being of citizens across the state.
According to the commissioner, the donation represents more than the gift of a building, as it offers the beneficiary renewed hope, security, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
He added that such humanitarian interventions complement government efforts to improve living conditions and support vulnerable residents.
Abanika also praised Omade for her sustained contributions to community development, noting that the housing project reflects her dedication to uplifting disadvantaged members of society.
Also speaking, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Multilateral and Donor-Funded Projects, Abdullahi Ozomata, described the initiative as a shining example of selfless service and social responsibility.
He said providing a comfortable home for a widow underscores the importance of compassion and collective action in addressing the needs of vulnerable persons within communities.
In her remarks, Omade said her passion for helping others stems from personal experiences and gratitude to God for His faithfulness.
She stressed that making a meaningful difference in people’s lives is not necessarily a function of wealth but of a genuine commitment to serving humanity.
The event was attended by government officials, community leaders, and residents, who lauded the initiative and emphasized the need for greater collaboration in supporting the less privileged across the state.
