The Jigawa State Government has introduced a new seat allocation formula for the 2025 Hajj exercise, aimed at ensuring a seamless and transparent process.

The formula allocates seats to 27 local government facilitators across the state, who will guide intending pilgrims on the basic tenets of the hajj exercise.

The new approach is designed to guarantee equal opportunities for pilgrims from all local government areas in the state to participate in the holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. The facilitators, consisting of males and females, have been drawn from each of the 27 local government areas of the state.

According to the Director General of the Jigawa State Pilgrim Welfare Board, Umar Labbo, the facilitators have a vast knowledge of the hajj tenet and are expected to guide prospective pilgrims at designated centres in Saudi Arabia.

The Jigawa State Government has also approved a loan of N3.36 billion for the 2025 Hajj pilgrim seats. The board has deposited N2.5 billion with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) as part of the state’s 2025 Hajj fares.

The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has received 1,518 slots from NAHCON for the forthcoming 2025 Hajj exercise. The board has distributed 70% of the total seat allocation to the 27 local government areas for sale to interested individuals across the state.

The remaining 30% of the seat allocation is reserved pending the exhaustion of slots allocated to each local government area. The new seat allocation formula is aimed at consolidating the successes of hajj operations in the state.

The Jigawa State Government has commended the efforts of the Pilgrim Welfare Board in ensuring a smooth hajj exercise. The government has assured intending pilgrims of its commitment to their well-being and safety during the exercise.
