Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. The event, renowned for gathering global leaders, top business executives, and development partners, is aimed at discussing critical economic challenges and crafting solutions to foster global prosperity.

Shettima’s itinerary includes high-level bilateral meetings and participation in key sessions focused on Africa’s development. According to his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President will engage in a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank in partnership with WEF. This initiative aims to attract investments to Africa’s emerging markets and drive inclusive economic growth.

One of the highlights of Shettima’s participation is the launch of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing Roadmap for Africa. This initiative seeks to foster collaborations between public and private sector stakeholders, ensuring the mobilization of capital into the continent’s frontier markets. The event is expected to spotlight Nigeria’s role in facilitating Africa’s economic transformation.

In addition to his commitments at the Congress Centre, the Vice President will co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa.” The session will explore the potential of digital trade to accelerate the implementation of the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, which was adopted by African Union heads of state in 2024.

Shettima is also slated to participate as a panellist in the “Global Risks 2025” dialogue, focusing on addressing geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges shaping the global landscape. Other engagements include a dinner for heads of state, government officials, and international business leaders.

Accompanying the Vice President are Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission’s Executive Secretary, Aisha Rimi.
