Kogi State Commends Academic Excellence with N5 Million Boost for ERASMUS+ Award Winner

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has granted a N5 million scholarship to Favour Oluwatimilehin Adebayo, an exceptional student who recently earned the prestigious European Union ERASMUS+ Scholarship. The announcement was made during a press briefing at the Kogi State Ministry of Education, where the Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, praised Adebayo for her academic brilliance and determination. He described her achievement as a proud moment for the state, showcasing the potential of Kogi’s youth on the global stage and serving as an inspiration for other aspiring students.

Governor Ododo emphasized that this scholarship reflects his administration’s commitment to promoting educational excellence and providing support to students who excel academically. He highlighted the significance of recognizing such outstanding achievements, noting that it serves as a powerful motivation for the next generation of leaders and professionals. The Governor expressed confidence that Favour’s success story would inspire many young students across the state, encouraging them to aim higher in their academic pursuits.

Afolabi Joseph Raji, Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Scholarship Board, reinforced the government’s dedication to offering financial assistance to deserving students. He explained that the scholarship would cover essential costs, including tuition and accommodation, to alleviate the financial burden as Favour embarks on her studies in Poland. Raji commended the proactive efforts of the state government in investing in the educational advancement of its youth, ensuring they have the necessary resources to excel both locally and internationally.

In a message delivered by her father, Moses Adebayo, Favour expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Governor Ododo and his administration for the generous support. Her family acknowledged the state’s ongoing initiatives to improve the education sector, recognizing the vital role such programs play in shaping the future of Kogi’s youth. The ERASMUS+ program, which Favour will join, provides top students with opportunities to study at leading universities across Europe, marking a major milestone in her academic journey and bringing global recognition to the talent emerging from Kogi State.
