Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has handed over the site for the construction of the new Lokoja Ultra Modern Market along the Zone8-Crusher axis of the state capital, to the construction firm, Sazaz Acres Biloque Company, (SABC) Limited.

During the handing over ceremony at the construction site in Lokoja , the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Taiye Abanika who represented Governor Ododo noted that the construction of a new ultra modern market in the state capital is in line with vision of the Kogi State government to expand development to all parts of the state capital and make the state more attractive for investment.

He noted that the project which is to be executed on a 15 hectares of land, is expected to be completed in 36 months.

Mr Abanika said the proposed ultra modern market would have modern facilities such as a shopping plaza, expansive parking lots, an abattoir, a clinic, a police station among others to ensure friendly shopping experience and contribute to the overall economic development of the state.

Meanwhile, the commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Muhammed Mukhtar commended the governor for prioritizing the construction of the ultra modern market and admonished the contractors to justify the confidence reposed in them by the state government.

On his part, the Commissioner of works, Engr. Muhammed Ahovi Yusuf, charged the company to adhere strictly to the specification as contained in the engineering design, warning that the government will not condone any job done with substandard materials.

Other top Government officials who spoke on the sideline of the brief ceremony charged the contractor not to compromise on quality by adhering strictly to the approved designs and specifications and to work within the stipulated timeframe of 36 months.

They cautioned that the state government will not condone substandard quality, stressing that the administration of Governor Ododo will remain committed to all round development of the state by opening up new areas for economic development.

Speaking after the hand over of the contract documents, representative of the construction company, Abdulrazak Adio assured the state government of their readiness not to compromise on the quality of the project as specified in the contractual agreement.

High point of the ceremony is the presentation of the contract papers to the contractor by the representatives of the governor, while the contractor rolled out equipment signaling the commencement of the construction work at the site of the New Lokoja ultra modern Market.
