Manchester City Approach Paul Pogba for Potential Comeback

Manchester City has reportedly made contact with former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba regarding a potential move when his doping ban ends in March 2025. Pogba, who last played for Juventus before his suspension in September 2023, is currently a free agent after being released by the Italian club in November.

According to reports from The Independent, City manager Pep Guardiola remains an admirer of Pogba, having previously shown interest in the Frenchman during his time at Manchester United. With City facing midfield challenges, including Rodri’s injury, Pogba is being considered as a possible addition to reinforce the team’s depth.

Despite City’s interest, Pogba is reportedly reluctant to return to Manchester or the Premier League, citing mixed experiences during his previous tenure in England. Instead, the 2018 World Cup winner appears more inclined to explore opportunities in La Liga, Serie A, or even the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Pro League, where Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr has been linked with Pogba, remains a strong contender for his signature. Other potential suitors include Los Angeles FC in the MLS and Marseille in Ligue 1, though a European move seems less likely.

The potential signing of Pogba by City would be controversial, given his history with United, where he made over 200 appearances across two spells. If finalized, it could further deepen the rivalry between the two Manchester clubs while offering Pogba a chance at redemption in English football.

City’s transfer activity is under scrutiny as they await a verdict on their financial charges, which could impact their ability to make moves during the January window. Pogba’s availability in March provides a unique opportunity for City to address their midfield concerns without immediate financial constraints.
