Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace, unity, and religious harmony in the state. He made this statement while hosting an Iftar dinner for Muslim and Christian leaders at his residence in Lokoja.
The governor expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to witness the holy month of Ramadan. He also acknowledged the unwavering support and prayers of adherents of Islam and Christianity in the state.
Governor Ododo commended the religious leaders for the cordial relationship between Muslims and Christians in Kogi State. He emphasized that their unity has been instrumental in fostering development in the state.
The governor reflected on the challenges faced upon assuming office, noting that the state has emerged stronger through collective efforts. He acknowledged the solid foundation laid by his predecessor and assured citizens that his administration would remain focused on consolidating and building upon those achievements.
State Chairman Jamatul Nasr Islam (JNI) and co-chairman of Kogi State Inter-Religious Council, Ambassador Usman Bello, commended Governor Ododo’s leadership. He reaffirmed the importance of religious tolerance in Kogi State and highlighted the role of interfaith engagements in sustaining peace and understanding.
Ambassador Bello noted that Kogi State has earned a reputation as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. This is due to the enduring spirit of unity between Muslims and non-Muslims in the state.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), represented by Rev. Dr. Malachi Ogako, commended Governor Ododo for his developmental strides. These include the rehabilitation of major roads and the implementation of a new minimum wage for workers in the state.
Rev. Ogako noted the significance of this year’s fasting season, pointing out how Ramadan and Lent coincided, symbolizing divine unity. He assured the governor of the continued support of the Christian community through prayers and collaboration.
