Mitrovic move is reportedly being considered by Manchester United as the club turns to experienced alternatives following the collapse of their bid for young striker Liam Delap. With Delap close to completing a £30 million switch to Chelsea, United have set their sights on Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.
Mitrovic, currently with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, has emerged as a leading option under consideration by INEOS, United’s new football leadership. The 30-year-old striker, who scored 19 goals in just 23 appearances last season, boasts a prolific record since moving to the Middle East, netting 68 times in 79 games across all competitions.

United’s striker situation remains urgent, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee reportedly under threat after underwhelming seasons. The club’s lack of Champions League football next term has also limited their pulling power, a factor believed to have influenced Delap’s decision to snub Old Trafford in favour of Stamford Bridge.
Al-Hilal, who splashed around £50 million on Mitrovic in 2023, are said to be open to offers in the region of £40 million as they eye marquee additions such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Victor Osimhen. With foreign player quotas in play, the Saudi club may need to offload high-value assets to facilitate incoming signings.

United, meanwhile, are not alone in tracking Mitrovic, with both West Ham United and Everton also believed to be monitoring the Serbian’s availability. The forward has a strong track record in English football, previously scoring over 100 goals for Fulham and gaining Premier League experience with Newcastle United.
Despite securing the £62.5 million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United remain committed to reinforcing their attack further. Wingers like Antony, Sancho, and Marcus Rashford are expected to leave, with room being created for a significant reshaping of the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
