Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system, the Governor noted that the Obuburu PHC is among the 88 priority project sites handed over to contractors by the State Ministry of Health earlier this year. The facility is currently being upgraded to a Level 2 functional health facility.

Governor Ododo expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work and stressed the importance of completing the project on schedule. He commended the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, and the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Dr. Mu’azu Musa, for their dedication and effective supervision.

He emphasized that the visit demonstrates his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving healthcare delivery and ensuring equitable access to quality health services throughout the state.

Governor Ododo described the ongoing revitalization and upgrade of over 200 PHCs as a major stride toward achieving universal health coverage in Kogi State.

Speaking during the visit, the Executive Director of KSPHCDA, Dr. Mu’azu Musa, explained that the upgrade of the additional 88 PHCs initiated last year is supported by the World Bank, with a total investment exceeding ₦7 billion. The project aims to enhance the functionality and service delivery capacity of selected PHCs across the state.

Dr. Musa further noted that, under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), seven PHCs are currently being upgraded, 21 others are receiving improvements with support from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and eight are undergoing rehabilitation with assistance from UNICEF and the Global Fund.

He reiterated that these initiatives underscore the administration’s strong resolve to bolster healthcare infrastructure and services across Kogi State.

Governor Ododo was accompanied on the inspection tour by senior government officials, including the Chief of Staff, Ali Bello, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ozigi Deedat.
