Monarch Backs Governor Ododo for Second Term

In what many have described as a royal stamp of approval, His Royal Highness, Ologidi of Ogidi, Oba Rabiu Sule, has declared support for the re-election bid of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.

The endorsement came during a courtesy visit by Governor Ododo to the palace of the revered monarch last week.

The governor, who arrived Ogidi to a warm reception, paid homage to the royal stool, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions as custodians of peace, culture, and communal values.

In his welcome address, Oba Rabiu Sule described Governor Ododo as a man of honour who has remained faithful to the promises he made to the people of Kogi State.

“We have seen governors come and go, but Governor Ododo stands out, he pays salaries promptly. Pensioners smile at the end of the month. Roads are being constructed. Development is visible. This is the kind of leadership we want”, he said.

The Ologidi further noted that his support was not born out of sentiment, but rooted in the governor’s visible performance and the tangible impact of his policies across the state.

He emphasized that Governor Ododo’s quiet but effective style of leadership has brought real progress to the people, making a strong case for continuity in office.

The monarch thereafter offered his royal blessing and encouraged the people of Ogidi and neighbouring communities to rally behind a government that is delivering meaningful development and good governance.

In his response, Governor Ododo expressed deep appreciation for the royal endorsement, describing it as a humbling validation of his administration’s people-focused approach to governance.

“Your Royal Highness, I thank you sincerely for this show of confidence. You have refused to play politics with people’s lives. You have supported peace and development. I am grateful”, Governor Ododo said.

He further assured the monarch and the people of Ogidi that his government remains committed to equitable distribution of developmental projects across the state, promising that more projects would reach the community in the coming months.
