Kogi’s Lugard TV Bags Media Excellence Award

Executives of the Faculty Association of Social Sciences Students (FASSS), Federal University Lokoja, led by Comrade Dare Opemipo,have honoured Kogi’s foremost online television, Lugard TV, with an Award of Media Excellence in recognition of its commitment to effective information dissemination and its support for young media practitioners.

The award presentation took place at the Government House Media Centre, Lokoja, during a courtesy visit on Wednesday as part of activities marking Day Three of Lugard TV’s first anniversary, which hosted educational institutions from across Kogi State.

Presenting the award to the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Hon. Ismaila Isah, the Faculty President, Comrade Dare, said it was in recognition of his efforts in creating a platform for internship opportunities for Mass Communication students and sustaining orientation programmes that prepare young people for careers in the media industry.

Dare disclosed that the Faculty of Social Sciences had unveiled the maiden edition of their campus magazine, The Champions Chronicles, which documents activities of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the university.

He also appealed for more support and partnerships to strengthen their initiative and expressed readiness for future collaborations with office of the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor.

Similarly, President of the Mass Communication Students Association (MACOSA), Comrade Charles Akanya, described Lugard TV as the best online media outfit in Kogi State.

He commended the station for redefining the media landscape, prioritising youth development and showing genuine concern for the future of communication.

In his remarks, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Hon. Ismaila Isah, assured that Lugard TV would continue to serve as a platform for mentoring young journalists, helping them develop skills and build sustainable careers in the media industry.
