Nigeria international Victor Boniface is on the verge of completing a move to AC Milan after the Italian giants reached a full agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for a season-long loan deal with an option to buy.
According to transfer insiders Fabrizio Romano, Matteo Moretto, and Florian Plettenberg, Milan will pay an initial €5 million to secure Boniface on loan, with a non-mandatory buy option set at €24 million. Should Milan activate the clause, the overall cost of the deal would rise to just under €30 million.
The Rossoneri have also agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old striker on a four-year contract beginning next season. Boniface’s signing comes as part of Milan’s push to bolster their attacking options following concerns over squad depth, especially with Santiago Gimenez being the only fit senior striker available to Massimiliano Allegri.
An injury to Rafael Leão, who was deployed as a makeshift centre-forward in Milan’s opening match of the 2025/26 Serie A season, further intensified the club’s urgency to secure a proven goal-scorer. Boniface, who enjoyed an impressive spell at Bayer Leverkusen, was identified as the ideal target after Milan failed to reach agreements for Rasmus Højlund of Manchester United and Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus.
Once the deal is finalized, Boniface will become Milan’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window, joining other high-profile arrivals including Luka Modric, Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci, Koni De Winter, Pervis Estupiñán, Zachary Athekame, and Pietro Terracciano.
The Nigerian forward is expected to undergo medicals in the coming days before being officially unveiled as an AC Milan player. Fans at the San Siro are already buzzing with excitement, as Boniface’s arrival is seen as a significant boost to the club’s ambitions in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League this season.
