In recognition of his exceptional leadership and developmental strides, Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has been named Governor of the Year 2025 by Democracy Newsline Newspaper.

In a statement by the Publisher and CEO of the newspaper, Femi Olugbemi said Governor Ododo’s commitment to public service has not gone unnoticed by members of the public.

His administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, education reform, healthcare development, and upgrade of rural roads were key factors in his selection for the prestigious award.

The statement noted that the governor’s nomination followed a detailed opinion poll conducted by a panel of experts.

He also praised the governor’s consistent payment of salaries and emoluments, highlighting him as a model of responsive governance.

The award will be officially presented this evening at the 15th Public Lecture and Award Ceremony, scheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall of the National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.

The event with the theme, the Role of Independent Media Organizations in Promoting Participatory Democracy and Good Governance in Nigeria,” will also mark the launch of a ₦100 million fund for podcast studio equipment and the debut of democracy Newsline’s Online Television platform.
