‎Army Kills Notorious Bandit Leader, Many Others in Kogi

Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in a joint operation with Other Hybrid Forces, have recorded major successes against criminal elements in Kogi State, neutralizing scores of bandits and dismantling key logistics networks.

‎According to a statement signed by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Lokoja, the intervention, codenamed Operation EGWUA A TITE II, commenced in early September 2025 and has continued to yield positive results.

‎He disclosed that troops of 126 Battalion, led by the Commanding Officer and supported by Other Hybrid Forces, came in contact with bandits along the Tunga axis.

‎Abdullahi added that, acting on credible intelligence, the troops, with close air support from the 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group, launched an air combat mission in Ankomi, where fleeing criminals were engaged and neutralized.

‎In a related operation on September 3rd, troops conducted clearance missions in Aleke, Angwan Sani, and Angwan Nyaba communities, rescuing kidnapped victims who have since been reunited with their families.

‎He further disclosed that troops engaged criminals in a fierce battle at a hideout, during which intelligence confirmed the death of Kachalla Bala, a notorious bandit commander, along with five of his fighters.

‎Similarly, troops, in conjunction with Other Hybrid Forces, mounted a successful ambush along the Agbede–Adankolo Bridge, a suspected logistics supply route, where a courier was neutralized and several items were recovered.

‎The statement reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to rid Kogi State and adjoining areas of banditry, criminality, and other security threats, stressing that troops remain resolute in restoring lasting peace and security to affected communities
