World Athletics had earlier announced a total prize pool of $8.5 million for the championships, with $35,000 allocated to silver medallists in individual events. Amusan’s performance secured her that amount, equivalent to ₦52.5m at the current exchange rate.
Her total earnings were boosted by a $20,000 podium bonus from Hiracer, Nigeria’s official kit supplier, which promised additional rewards for medal-winning athletes. With this, Amusan’s Tokyo haul rose to $55,000 (₦82.5m).

The silver medal is another milestone for Amusan, who made history in 2022 with her world record and gold medal-winning run of 12.12s in Eugene. Her latest performance also extends Nigeria’s medal tally at the World Championships to 12.
Although she fell short of repeating her 2022 triumph, Amusan’s consistency cements her status as one of the world’s elite hurdlers and a true Nigerian sporting icon.
