FG Reaffirms Commitment to Completion of Road Projects in Kogi

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure that connects Kogi State to other parts of the country.

Senator Umahi made this pledge during an inspection tour of ongoing federal road projects across Kogi State at the weekend.

The Minister who was received by the Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Mohammed Yusuf was accompanied by the State Minister of Works, Barr. Uba Maigari Ahmadu along with a team of engineers and experts from the federal ministry of works.

The visit was aimed at assessing the progress of work on key federal government infrastructure projects within the state began at Abaji, the border town between Kogi State and the Federal Capital Territory, continuing through Banda, Korton-Karfe, and Zariagi, with each stop allowing the Minister to review progress and quality of rehabilitation work on federal road projects that are critical to movement of people and goods through the state

Addressing the media and members of the host communities, Senator Umahi commended the quality of work by the contractors but expressed concern over the pace of progress.

“The quality of work here is excellent, and I commend you for maintaining the required standards. However, the pace of work is not acceptable. I urge all contractors to double their efforts to ensure the timely completion of these projects. Be assured that funding will be provided as needed. We cannot afford further delays,” he stated.

Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Mohammed Yusuf expressed the heartfelt gratitude of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the people of Kogi State to the Honourable Minister.

He praised Senator Umahi’s leadership, technical expertise, and his continued consideration for the state.

“On behalf of the Chief Servant of our state, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and the people of Kogi, I warmly welcome you to the Confluence of Opportunities.
“Your passion for infrastructure development and your support for our state are deeply appreciated. Road infrastructure is not merely a necessity; it is an investment that unlocks further opportunities. As a strategic state that borders nine other states, Kogi stands to gain immensely from these federal interventions,” said Engr. Yusuf.

The Commissioner also took the opportunity to request that the Minister convey the gratitude of the government and people of Kogi State to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring the President of the state’s continued appreciation for his support.

He concluded with a heartfelt prayer for divine wisdom and protection for the Honourable Minister as he continues to lead transformative projects across the country.

“Kogi State is a state of grateful people. We know how to show our appreciation, and in due time, we will express our thanks in the loudest and most meaningful way possible,” he remarked.
