Deedat Urges Council Chairmen to Focus on Security, Welfare

Kogi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Salami Deedat, has charged  the Chairmen of the 21 Local Government Areas of the state to place security and welfare at the top of their agenda.

‎Barr. Deedat gave the charge during a meeting with the council chairmen in Lokoja, where he reminded them of their responsibility to protect lives and property in line with the thematic areas of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.

‎He explained that adequate security is not only a condition for economic development but also the foundation for communal peace and stability, stressing that no community can make progress in the absence of peace and security.

‎The Commissioner urged the council bosses to strengthen collaboration with security agencies and traditional rulers to safeguard their areas, warning that negligence in matters of security could expose citizens to avoidable risks.

‎Barr. Deedat also advised the chairmen to always put the people first in their decisions, noting that genuine leadership is measured by the extent to which it improves the welfare of citizens at the grassroots

‎He assured them of the state government’s support in carrying out their responsibilities, emphasized that their performance should reflect the commitment of Governor Ododo to building a secure, peaceful and prosperous Kogi State.
