The France international, who still had two years left on his existing deal, is expected to officially sign in the coming days, committing his future to the Gunners until 2030.
Saliba, 24, joined Arsenal from Ligue 1 side Saint-Étienne in July 2019, though he initially spent three seasons on loan in France with Saint-Étienne, Nice, and Marseille. Since making his Arsenal debut in August 2022, he has grown into a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s defence, amassing 137 appearances so far.
His current contract was set to expire in June 2027, and his consistently impressive form had reportedly attracted interest from Real Madrid. However, his decision to extend his stay offers a significant boost to Arsenal’s long-term plans.
The news follows the extension of his defensive partner Gabriel Magalhães, who signed a deal keeping him at the club until 2029 earlier this year.
Arsenal will look to continue their strong start to the season when they visit Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday.
