Ododo Reaffirms Commitment to Grassroots Development, Inspects Key Projects in Kabba/Bunu

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reiterated the importance of bringing governance closer to the people at the grassroots.

The Governor made this known during an inspection visit to key infrastructural projects across Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

Governor Ododo who inspected Primary Health Care Centre in Agbadu, Oke-Bukun Model Secondary School, and other critical infrastructure projects in area noted that the visit was part of ongoing spot checks on key projects to ensure value for money by the state government.

Speaking at Agbadu Community, the Governor described the inspection of the community’s health infrastructure as a historic milestone, noting that the area had long suffered from limited government attention despite its strategic importance.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, especially in rural areas where access to quality healthcare services remains a challenge.

At Oke-Bukun Model Secondary School, Governor Ododo commended the progress of work, emphasizing that his administration places a premium on education as a tool for empowerment and social transformation.

He assured that the state government would continue to invest in educational infrastructure to ensure that every child in Kogi has access to quality learning.

The Governor also charged residents to take ownership of public facilities provided by the government, stressing that such projects were designed to directly impact the lives of the people.

He commended contractors handling various projects area for the quality of work done across the local government area, describing their efforts as a reflection of the administration’s commitment to excellence.

Governor Ododo also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast efforts in transforming Nigeria’s economy and supporting massive infrastructural development across the country.

“I thank a father, a leader, a president who believes in giving back to his people. I appreciate him for giving us the opportunity and resources to deliver these projects for our people,” Governor Ododo stated.

He further noted that President Tinubu had encouraged state governments to focus on projects that directly impact lives of their citizens — a vision that aligns with his administration’s grassroots development agenda.

The Governor thanked the people of Kabba/Bunu for their support and cooperation, encouraging them to continue working with traditional rulers and security agencies to sustain peace.

“Do not allow criminals to find shelter in your communities,” he charged.

At the Palace of the Obaro of Kabba, Governor Ododo noted that his mission to the local government was not only to inspect projects but also to express appreciation to the traditional council for its continuous support for his administration and for the progress of Kogi State.

In his response, the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of the Okun Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty Oba Solomon Owoniyi, commended Governor Ododo for his dedication to improving the welfare of citizens and ensuring the security of lives and property.

He also appealed for urgent government attention to the long-neglected Kabba–Egbe–Ilorin Road, describing it as critical to the region’s economic growth.

Similarly, the Olu of Okebukun, His Royal Highness Oba Timothy Ige, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s visit and lauded him for sustaining the developmental strides of the immediate past administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

In his remark, Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Barr. Zaccheaus Dare expressed appreciation to the Governor for his visit and the numerous projects being executed in the area.

He pledged the continued support of the local government to ensure the success of the administration’s policies and programs.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, commended Governor Ododo’s consistent investment in education.

He noted that the commitment of the Ododo-led administration to revamp the educational sector is a clear demonstration of his resolve to equip Kogi youths with the knowledge and skills required for a prosperous future.
