The Special Adviser on Media to the Kogi State Governor, Hon. Isah Ismaila, has called on media members of media support groups to fully embrace the potentials of the new media to strengthen public trust and enhance transparency in promoting achievement of the Kogi state government under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Hon. Ismaila made the call in Lokoja while delivering a keynote address at a two-day media engagement and capacity-building programme organized by Fancy Media Team.
He emphasized that the evolution of digital communication tools has redefined how governments interact with citizens, making engagement faster, more inclusive, and citizen-driven.
The event with theme ‘The Power of New Media: Best Practices for Influence, Engagement, and Narrative Control,’ attracted media professionals, analysts, and youth leaders where the special adviser discussed emerging trends in digital communication and governance.
He noted that the new media has revolutionized information dissemination and accountability, enabling real-time communication between governments and the public.
According to him, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration has prioritized transparency by adopting innovative communication tools and platforms such as Lugard TV to provide consistent updates on the government’s developmental strides across all sectors.
“New media is not just a news platform; it is a bridge that connects the government with the people,” Isah stated.
“It allows instant feedback, supports citizen participation, and curbs misinformation in real time. Our administration’s goal is to ensure that communication remains transparent, factual, and accessible to all.”
He further urged journalists to embrace teamwork and ethical collaboration to ensure credible reporting and combat the spread of false information.

Majeed Dahiru commended the Fancy Media team for their credible reportage on the Ododo-led administration, describing their work as “robust and inspiring.”
He applauded Governor Ododo’s recognition of media as a vital partner in governance, noting that his citizen-centered communication strategy has strengthened accountability and improved public confidence in government policies.
The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State chapter, Comr. Abdulrahaman Abdulmumuni Enesi, also commended the initiative, pledging the youth council’s readiness to implement recommendations from the engagement.
Other participants described the training as timely and impactful, emphasizing its role in boosting professionalism and promoting accurate, ethical, and responsible engagement among media support groups in Kogi State.
