Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has ordered the immediate repair of the Ganaja roundabout in Lokoja following public complaints about the condition of some portion of the road.
The repair is being undertaken by the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA).
The Governor gave the directive after a viral video captured the hardship faced by motorists and residents who use the busy route daily, describing the situation as unacceptable.
Governor Ododo immediately directed the KOGROMA to mobilize men and equipment to the area to commence palliative works aimed at restoring free flow of traffic.
He emphasized that leadership must remain sensitive to citizens’ concerns, noting that governance is most effective when it listens and responds promptly.
“Our government listens and acts swiftly. The situation at Ganaja roundabout demanded urgent attention, and I have directed KOGROMA to move in immediately. No citizen should suffer where government can act,” he stated.
Governor Ododo explained that the intervention on Ganaja roundabout is part of a broader road construction and maintenance effort by his administration to ensure that roads across the state remain motorable, even as preparations continue for comprehensive interventions on several roads in the state after the rainy season.
“Leadership is about empathy and responsiveness. We are not just building roads, we are building trust between the government and the people,” he added.
The Governor’s swift action on Ganaja road comes a few days after his inspection tour of ongoing projects across Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to quality service delivery and inclusive development.
Governor Ododo had also inspected primary healthcare centres in Agbadu Bunu and Ayegunle Igun Bunu, the Model Secondary School with a 500-seater CBT hall at Okebukun Bunu, and the multi-billion-naira ecological project in Omigbo, designed to control erosion and protect lives and property.
The Governor while interacting with residents, traditional rulers, and community leaders assured them that his government’s development agenda is not driven by politics but by a genuine commitment to improving the welfare of every citizen.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for enabling the federal government to support state governments to underkate projects that have direct impact on the lives of the people.
