The Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, has marked his first anniversary in office with a celebration to highlight major development and partnership with stakeholders for community growth.
The event, held in Lokoja, attracted dignitaries including former council chairmen, traditional rulers, security chiefs, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stakeholders, and community leaders.
In his address, Comrade Adamu expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continuous support to local government administration across the state.
He also acknowledged the contributions of past council leaders and security agencies whose collective efforts, he said, has helped sustain peace and progress in Lokoja.
Adamu listed the renovation of schools and primary healthcare centres, provision of school uniforms, recruitment of local hunters and collaboration with the Navy to strengthen local security architecture as highlights of his achievements in the last one year.
Other accomplishments, he said, include distribution of fertilizers to farmers, women and youth empowerment as well as other projects aimed at boosting education and agricultural productivity in the local government area.
Comrade Adamu who also presented awards of excellence to former chairmen of the local government area for their contributions to the council’s growth, thanked royal fathers, commissioners, and other stakeholders for their continued cooperation.
In his goodwill message, the Gaabi of Lokoja, Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali, described Adamu as a “humble and people-oriented leader” who has restored unity and focus to local governance.
Other speakers, including the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, and former Lokoja council chairman, Hon. Yabagi Danlami, commended Adamu’s inclusive leadership style and his efforts in bridging gaps between past and present administrations.
The event also witnessed the motion moved by APC stakeholders, led by Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali and Hon. Abdulrahman Dangana, endorsing both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ododo for a second term in office.
