Market women in Lokoja have endorsed Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a second term in office, citing his dedication to improving market operations and empowering traders across Kogi State as one of the major achievements of his administration.
The endorsement came on Tuesday during the presentation of Award of Excellence to the Consultant of the Lokoja International Market, Comrade Adams Jimoh by the group.
Speaking on behalf of the state government, Director General of Kogi State Commodity Exchange, Export Promotion and Market Development Agency (KOSCEPA) Victor Omofaiye, commended Governor Ododo for prioritising market development and appointing a competent manager to oversee affairs at the Lokoja International Market.
He praised Comrade Jimoh for his contributions, describing him as instrumental to the “remarkable turnaround” witnessed in the market’s management.
According to him, the progress recorded in the market sector reflects Governor Ododo’s leadership style, which has brought stability and growth to market women across the state.
Omofaiye further announced that a women-empowerment initiative has already been approved by the Governor, assuring traders that more development-focused programmes are underway.
Reaffirming their political stance, he declared the full support of the market community for both the state and federal government of Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ododo.
“By the grace of God, come 2027, we have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on behalf of the market people and all members present here,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, the award recipient, Comrade Adams Jimoh, expressed joy over the recognition. He thanked Governor Ododo for appointing him and dedicated the award to the Governor, whom he described as “his boss and political godfather.”He also expressed appreciation to the former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his continuous support.
