President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed that the security and welfare of every Nigerian remain the central pillars of his administration’s governance agenda.
The President made this known on Sunday in Lokoja during the 10th Memorial Anniversary of former Kogi State Governor, Prince Abubakar Audu.
Represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris,Tinubu noted that his government has taken decisive steps to ensure the safety of citizens and promote their wellbeing through targeted reforms.
He explained that the recent declaration of a state of emergency on national security demonstrates the administration’s firm resolve to confront insecurity across the country.
“It is not a mere proclamation. It is a declaration of war against all forms of insecurity. We have already begun expanding the capacity of our armed forces and security agencies—both in manpower and in advanced weaponry and intelligence capabilities,” he said.
The President described as misleading any attempt to portray Nigeria as a nation divided along religious lines, insisting that Nigeria remains a united, tolerant country where people of diverse faiths coexist peacefully.
“We are actively presenting the true picture of Nigeria where people of different faiths live, walk, and pray side by side in peace. We will not relent until the world sees us for who we truly are,” he added.
Tinubu also stated the administration’s commitment to modernising key economic sectors, including agriculture and livestock, as part of efforts to drive growth, reduce conflict, and create employment opportunities.
“We are moving beyond old-age practices that often led to conflict. We are launching a comprehensive initiative to modernise the livestock industry, including large-scale breeding schemes and improved animal husbandry to fully integrate the livestock value chain into the national economy,” he explained.
According to him, the initiative is targeted at boosting prosperity, creating jobs, ensuring food security, and sustaining peace across communities.
The President further noted that through enhanced social investment programmes, the administration is delivering support to vulnerable citizens, empowering small and medium enterprises, and equipping young Nigerians with globally competitive skills.
“We are placing the Nigerian people at the centre of our governance. We are scaling up interventions to directly support the most vulnerable, nurture SMEs, and empower our youth,” he added.
He said the federal government has embarked on an unprecedented expansion of national infrastructure aimed at stimulating economic growth.
“We are modernising our road and rail networks and enhancing our power infrastructure to ensure accelerated development across the country,” Tinubu said.
