President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing his passing as a great loss to the state and the nation.
In a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President said the late Ewhrudjakpo was a dedicated, selfless, and patriotic public servant who served Bayelsa State and Nigeria with unwavering commitment.
President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, the government and people of the state, as well as to the deceased’s wife, Mrs. Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo, his children, family members, friends, and associates.
Recalling Ewhrudjakpo’s distinguished public service career, the President noted that he had served Bayelsa State meritoriously as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure before his election as Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District.
He highlighted that the late deputy governor made significant contributions to the development of Bayelsa State through key infrastructure projects and played an important role in lawmaking and policy formulation during his time in the National Assembly.
President Tinubu urged the government and people of Bayelsa State to preserve and uphold the legacy of service and dedication left behind by Ewhrudjakpo, noting that his impact would remain evident in the state’s development journey.
The President also prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed deputy governor’s soul and asked God to grant comfort, strength, and fortitude to his family, the Bayelsa State Government, and the people of the state during this period of mourning.
