Kogi Govt to Digitise Civil Service in 2026, Honours Retirees

The Kogi State Government has announced plans to fully digitalise civil service operations from 2026, marking a major shift from manual administrative processes to technology-driven governance.

The was disclosed by the Head of the Civil Service, Pastor Elijah Evinemi at the Government House end-of-year thanksgiving and award ceremony held to celebrate serving staff and honour retirees for their years of service.

Evinemi said the reform would enhance efficiency, transparency and service delivery across ministries, departments and agencies.

He explained that personnel records would be converted into electronic formats, eliminating repeated submission of hard-copy documents and ensuring faster, more reliable administrative processes.

According to him, updates of records would only be required in specific cases such as promotions, inter-ministerial transfers or name changes, all of which would be done electronically.

He explained that the initiative is not a verification or screening exercise but a structured transition supported by training programmes for officers handling data management.

The Head of Service also reaffirmed commitment of the administration of Governor Ododo to workers’ welfare, citing prompt payment of salaries, continuous capacity-building and sustained investment in staff development as some evidence of priorities given to civil servants in the state.

He further commended the Governor’s efforts in ensuring peace and security in the state, noting that a stable environment remains critical for effective public service delivery.

Earlier, the Director of Administration, Government House, Pastor Mrs. Praise Akubo, commended the Director-General, Government House Administration, Alhaji Shaibu Oricha, for fostering unity, professionalism and staff welfare.

She attributed the achievements recorded within the year to purposeful leadership and collective effort, and announced plans for a thanksgiving service in January to appreciate God for the progress made under the current administration.
