Kogi Labour Leaders Commend Gov. Ododo on Workers’ Welfare

‎Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has received commendation by the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Kogi State Council and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state for making the welfare of workers a top priority of the administration.

‎This was disclosed during a courtesy visit to the Governor by the labour leaders at the Government House, Lokoja.

‎Speaking during the visit,  Chairman of the Kogi State Council of the NLC, Comrade Amari Gabriel, explained that the purpose of the visit was to appreciate Governor Ododo for the priority given to workers’ welfare in the state by the administration.

‎“It is part of the usual interface between the labour congress and the government,” he said.

‎He revealed that among the several promises made by the governor that have already been fulfilled is the implementation of workers’ promotions, which he noted will commence alongside the January 2026 salary.

‎Comrade Amari commended Governor Ododo for his achievements in tackling insecurity in the state and for strengthening relationship between the government and the workers.

‎Similarly, Chairman of the TUC, Comrade Sule Ahmed Tijani, expressed gratitude to the governor for his efforts in ensuring that workers’ welfare needs are met.

‎He explained that the aim of their visit was to gather adequate information and relay back to workers as it affects ongoing developments in the state.

‎Tijani further commended the governor for his consistency in fulfilling promises, noting that there was no need to remind the governor about workers’ demands before him, stressing that Governor Ododo has been consistent in keeping his promises to workers in the state.

‎Earlier, the Chairman of the Public Service Joint Negotiating Council, Olusegun Victor, described the governor as a consistent promise keeper.

‎He noted that following appeals  for the implementation of cash backing for workers’ promotion, he was pleasantly surprised that it was approved and implemented, adding that the governor has also approved another request for promotion cash backing in the new year.

‎Victor also thanked the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka for working closely with the governor in the interest of workers in the state.

‎He declared that the only way the workers in Kogi state can express appreciation to Governor Ododo is to support his reelection in 2027.
