Members of the Kogi State Sixth House Assembly have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a second term in office, citing what they described as purposeful and impactful leadership.

The endorsement was announced during a courtesy visit to Governor Ododo by the former lawmakers at the Government House in Lokoja on Thursday.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, former Speaker of the House Assembly, Umar Ahmed Imam, said the visit was aimed at demonstrating solidarity with the governor and formally endorsing both Governor Ododo and President Tinubu for re-election.

Imam noted that the former lawmakers fully support the policies and programmes of the current administration, which he said are focused on improving the welfare of the people and accelerating the development of Kogi State.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Governor Ododo disclosed that the lawmakers used the occasion to express appreciation to President Tinubu for his support and impact in the lives of the people of Kogi state especially the approval of the establishment of a Free Trade Zone in the state, noting that the initiative would significantly improve the economy of the state due to its strategic location and vast commercial and industrial potentials.

Governor Ododo also commended the President’s approval for the establishment of an airport in the state, describing it as a major milestone in the development trajectory of Kogi State.

He explained that Kogi State holds historical importance as the location where the first aircraft landed in Nigeria and serves as a critical gateway linking the north and the south of the country.

According to him, the absence of an airport in a state that borders ten other states, including the Federal Capital Territory, has remained a major developmental setback for the state and the country.

The governor further stated that
that the proposed airport would help unlock the state’s economic potential and attract local and foreign investment.

Governor Ododo also noted that the cumulative impact of these presidential interventions informed the endorsement by the former lawmakers.

He commended members of the Sixth Assembly for their show of confidence in his administration and for their support.
