The Kogi State House of Assembly has ratified the reappointment of Hajiya Mariam Abedo as the Director General of the Kogi State Pension Commission.
The confirmation hearing by the Assembly followed her reappointment by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo leading to appearance before the lawmakers during plenary on Tuesday, where she was screened and subsequently confirmed to lead the Commission for another term five years.
Speaking after her confirmation, Hajiya Maria expressed appreciation to the Assembly members for finding her worthy of the appointment.
She assured the legislators and the people of Kogi State of her commitment to repositioning the Pension Commission in line with the policy direction of the administration of Governor Ododo.
She also commended the lawmakers for their support and encouragement for women in leadership positions, noting that their decision demonstrates renewed hope and greater opportunities for women across Kogi State.
She pledged to sustain her record as a committed and professional pension administrator, emphasizing that her second term in office would prioritize transparency, efficiency, and the welfare of pensioners across the state.
She expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo for finding her worthy of reappointment upon the expiration of her first term in office as Director General of the State Pension Commission.
The confirmation marks another step in the state government’s efforts to strengthen institutions and ensure effective management of pension administration in the state.
