Federal University Lokoja Inaugurates Five Technical Committees

In a landmark strategic move designed to translate the Vice-Chancellor’s bold Action Plan 2026-2031 into high-impact results, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, the newly inaugurated Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, has formally constituted five (5) specialised technical committees to drive core institutional priorities.

The inauguration, which followed Professor Ibileye’s official assumption of office on 16 February 2026, took place at the University’s Felele campus with key members of the University Management, Senate representatives, Deans, Directors, and student leadership present.

Speaking during the brief ceremony, Professor Ibileye reaffirmed his commitment to disciplined, transparent, and system-driven governance, anchored on measurable outcomes, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement.

He emphasised that these technical committees would serve as the engine rooms of strategic implementation for the University’s Action Plan 2026-2031, a bold blueprint crafted to reposition Federal University Lokoja for academic excellence, innovation and global engagement.

The institution constituted several key committees to drive its mandate. These include the Strategic Governance, Leadership and Institutional Stability Committee; the Academic and Learning Excellence Committee; the Staff and Student Development Committee; the Research, Innovation and Global Partnerships Committee; the Infrastructure, ICT and Community Engagement/External Relations Committee; and the Staff and Student Welfare, Security and Well-Being Committee.

In his address delivered at the Inauguration, Professor Ibileye reiterated that committee-driven governance and collaborative engagement are central to the Action Plan’s success.

He stressed that institutional transformation cannot occur in silos but must be driven by expertise, accountability, strategic oversight and shared institutional values.

Professor Ibileye described the Action Plan 2026-2031 as a time-bound, measurable blueprint aimed at “significantly uplifting the standards of academic quality, research innovation, infrastructure development, staff and student empowerment, and global competitiveness.”

He affirmed that the newly constituted committees will operate with clear terms of reference, performance indicators and regular reporting to university governance bodies.

Each committee will be chaired by distinguished Professor and senior management members with proven expertise in their respective fields.

This strategic framework is expected to usher in an era of transformative growth, institutional stability, enhanced global relevance and impactful community engagement for Federal University Lokoja.
