‎Kogi Government Assures Support for Victims of Okunchi Accident‎

The Kogi State Government has expressed sympathy to victims of the recent accident at the old Zango in Okunchi, assuring leaders of the community and families of victims of support by the government.

‎Speaking at the scene of the accident at the weekend, the State Project Coordinator of AGILE and political leader of Okunchi Ward, Tijani Oricha noted that the Adavi Local Government Council was actively engaged in the rescue operation and evaluation of the situation.

He explained that he received a call from the ward councillor about the incident, after which he promptly informed the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engineer Yusuf Muhammed.

‎According to Oricha, the Commissioner immediately directed him to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the situation, in order to provide a detailed briefing that has now been relayed to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

‎Describing the incident as unfortunate, Oricha expressed gratitude that only one house was affected and that no life was lost at the scene.

He identified the affected property as belonging to an elderly woman, stating that the delegation was present to commiserate with her and deliver the goodwill message from the State Government.

‎“The government stands with the family in this difficult time,” he said, adding that Governor Ododo has expressed his support and assured that the state will stand by the victims throughout the period of recovery.

‎Oricha also disclosed that some individuals affected by the incident are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

He stated that was instructed by the Governor, through the Commissioner for Works, to visit the injured victims and provide a report on their condition.

‎He also visited families of those affected by the accident.
