NAKOSS Hails Gov. Ododo on Students Welfare

The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) has commended the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his prompt and student-focused leadership, particularly in responding to security challenges and according priority to students’ welfare.

The association described Governor Ododo’s actions as “leadership in action,” highlighting his decisive response during recent crises in Jos which affected Kogi State students.

NAKOSS National President, Comrade Sunday Adeola, emphasized that the safety and well-being of students remain a top priority for the association, which represents Kogi State students across Nigeria and beyond.

Adeola recalled that the recent security threats in Plateau State, particularly around the University of Jos, left many students and their families anxious and vulnerable.

In response to concerns raised by the students, he noted that Governor Ododo immediately approved the evacuation of nearly 700 students, ensuring resources and logistics were in place for a safe and orderly operation.

The association described the evacuation as more than a routine procedure, describing it as a “rescue mission driven by compassion and a sense of responsibility.”

Adeola praised the governor for demonstrating that no Kogi State student would be abandoned in times of crisis.

Beyond emergency response, the association also acknowledged the administration’s bursary award, noting that over 8,000 students benefited from the first phase, with the second phase expected to reach more than 20,000 students.

The students body expressed confidence that Governor Ododo would ensure timely release of funds for the second phase of the bursary programme to sustain its transformative impact on the lives of students.
