Gov. Ododo Surpasses Targets in Health, Education, Security — Isah

The Special Adviser on Media to Kogi State Governor, Hon. Ismaila Isah, says the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has surpassed several of its initial development targets across the health, education and security sectors within its first two years in office.

Isah made the disclosure during a visit to the Nigerian Union of journalists in Kaduna on the sideline of the Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations on Monday, where he outlined
major achievements recorded by the administration as part of its development agenda.

He said no fewer than 88 primary healthcare centres had been revitalised and commissioned across the state, exceeding the earlier target of about 68 facilities.

According to him, the education sector has also witnessed key interventions, including support for more than 13,000 adolescent schoolgirls through conditional cash transfers aimed at keeping them in school.

He added that funding for the initiative had increased from over N250 million to more than N500 million.

Isah further stated that the government had embarked on the renovation and remodelling of about 728 public schools, alongside the establishment of model science secondary schools to strengthen science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.

He explained that three out of the nine planned model schools had already been activated, while others were nearing completion.

He noted that students from the earlier schools were already excelling in national competitions.

Isah said the state had adopted proactive measures to combat criminal activities, including the deployment of combat drones.

He added that hundreds of local vigilante members had been absorbed into the state civil service, while community-based security initiatives were yielding positive results.

Speaking on infrastructure and economic development, Isah revealed that the state had secured federal government approval to establish a free trade zone in the Ajaokuta economic city covering more than 4,000 hectares of land.

He said the project had already started attracting investors ahead of its planned groundbreaking.

Isah also commended the Nigeria Union of Journalists for what he described as consistent professional support, noting that the relationship had improved the visibility of government programmes and policies within and outside state.
