Gov. Ododo Assures Fair Primaries, Rule Out Candidate Imposition

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has assured stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that no candidate will be imposed in the party’s forthcoming primaries in Kogi State.

The Governor gave the assurance while addressing APC aspirants from Kogi Central senatorial district at a stakeholders meeting in Lokoja.

He stated that the primary elections of the party will be conducted in a manner that guarantees transparency, fairness and party cohesion.

Governor Ododo reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership and internal democracy.

He stressed that while the government would not impose candidates, it will provide a supervisory role to maintain order, credibility, and unity in the political process.

According to him, such an approach is necessary to safeguard the integrity of the system and promote collective ownership of outcomes.

He noted that the meeting is part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening harmony and ensure a smooth and credible primary election process ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.

The Governor also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support and leadership, noting that the support of the federal government has strengthened governance and political stability in Kogi State.

He urged all aspirants to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, stating that whoever emerges as the candidate should receive the full support of others.

Speaking on behalf of the aspirants, Sanni Muhammed an aspirant for Adavi Constituency in the State House of Assembly, commended the governor for his transparent and consultative approach.

He pledged that all Aspirants would respect the outcome of the process and work together to support the eventual candidate in the interest of unity and development.
