Kogi Govt Inspects AGILE School Projects

Kogi State Government has commenced inspection of ongoing renovation projects under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) programme.

Speaking during the inspection exercise, Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones said the inspection was to ensure that contractors strictly adhere to approved specifications and standards in line with the agreement guiding the projects.

The Commissioner also said that quality delivery remains a key priority of the present administration in its drive to reposition the educational sector in the state.

He stressed that the state government would not condone any substandard or shoddy jobs.

According to him, the administration is committed to ensuring that learners and teachers enjoy improved facilities that will enhance effective teaching and learning across the state.

He reiterated Governor Ododo’s determination to revamp the education sector through sustained investment in school infrastructure and human capital development.

Wemi Jones further urged the contractors handling various projects to ensure timely completion of jobs while maintaining required standard.

He also said the government would continue to monitor implementation closely.

The Inspection is in furtherance of the flag-off of the renovation of 728 state-owned public schools by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo on April 2, 2026.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the AGILE State Coordinator, Comrade Tijani Oricha, the Special Adviser on Education, Hon. Abdulmalik Abdullahi, the permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Mr. Alabi Albert Bamigbade and some Staff of the Ministry and AGILE.

Schools visited are Adavi LGA Standard College Iresuha, Community Secondary School Ege, Government Day Secondary School Okunchi, Government Secondary School Kuroko, UBE/JSS Okunchi, UBE/JSS Nagazi Uvete. In Okehi a team led by the Permanent Secretary visited Government Girls Unity School Oboroke, Ihima Community Science Secondary, to access the level of compliance with project specifications and progress of work.
