The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 election in Kogi state, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, has called for unity among the people of Kogi State, declaring his readiness to support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in advancing the development of the state.
Ajaka made the declaration during a visit to Governor Ododo at the Government House in Lokoja, where he stressed the need for collective efforts in moving Kogi State forward.
He acknowledged that his recent political engagements may not be welcomed by everyone, noting that consultations with critical stakeholders would continue in the interest of peace, unity and progress.
According to him, the visit to Governor Ododo was in continuation of his earlier meeting with former Governor Yahaya Bello as part of efforts to build stronger political understanding and foster unity across the state.
Ajaka described Governor Ododo as a longstanding ally, emphasizing that disagreements are natural in politics but should ultimately give way to common understanding and shared goals.
“In politics, there is always disagreement before agreement. We have reached a point of agreement, and that is why I am here,” he said.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting policies and programmes that would enhance development and promote the overall interest of Kogi State and its people.
