Nigerian First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has commended the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, for his unwavering support and guidance to the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Oluremi gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Sultan at his palace in Sokoto on Saturday, where she acknowledged the traditional ruler’s consistent role in offering advice to the Federal Government since the inception of the Tinubu administration.

According to a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady described the visit as an opportunity to personally thank the Sultan for his fatherly support and wise counsel, while also recalling the longstanding relationship between their families.

She noted that the Sultan had remained a dependable source of guidance, providing valuable counsel that has helped steer the administration in the right direction.

“The Sultan is always pointing the administration in the right direction,” she said.

Responding, the Sultan called for sustained prayers for Nigeria, urging political leaders and citizens to continue seeking divine intervention, particularly in addressing the country’s security challenges.

He stressed the need for those responsible for violence and criminal activities to embrace genuine repentance and abandon acts capable of undermining national peace and stability.

“As leaders, there is a need to keep seeking divine intervention, especially for those group of people who have been perpetrating evil in the land”

“My prayer is that those people would come to true repentance and live appropriately,” he said.

The Sultan also commended the First Lady for the humanitarian interventions of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), describing the programme as impactful and beneficial to millions of Nigerians.

According to him, the initiative’s various empowerment and welfare programmes have significantly improved the lives of vulnerable groups across the country through support targeted at women, youths, children and families.

Also speaking, Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu praised Mrs Tinubu for paying a courtesy visit to the revered traditional ruler and lauded the Renewed Hope Initiative for its people-centred interventions.

The governor said the initiative has continued to make meaningful contributions to the welfare of Nigerians through programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting social development.
