The Omoye Clan, one of the prominent clans in Ebiraland, has declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made during a gathering of members of the clan in Okene, which attracted top government officials, political stakeholders, sons and daughters of Omoye Clan.
The gathering provided an opportunity for members of the Omoye Clan to express appreciation to the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, particularly for what they described as its inclusive approach to governance, appointments and recognition of members of the clan.
Speaking at the event, the National President of Omoye Development Association, Mr Yahaya Momoh, said the endorsement was a demonstration of gratitude for the love and goodwill extended to the clan by Governor Ododo.
Momoh noted that the decision to support the Governor and other APC candidates was borne out of the clan’s appreciation of the opportunities created for its members under the present administration.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Governing Council of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Sanni Shaibu, thanked Governor Ododo for finding members of the Omoye Clan worthy of serving in various capacities within the government.
Sanni described the appointments as a demonstration of confidence in the capacity of members of the clan and assured the Governor of their continued commitment and support for his administration.
The endorsement was led by Honourable Ibrahim Ahovi, Managing Director of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, RUWASSA.
Ahovi said the decision to endorse President Tinubu, Governor Ododo and all APC candidates was collective, stressing that it was primarily aimed at appreciating Governor Ododo for what he described as his significant contributions to the development and empowerment of the Omoye Clan.
According to him, the endorsement was simply the clan’s way of saying “thank you” to the Governor.
In his address, Kogi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Engr Momoh Ezzu, commended the Omoye Clan for its steadfast commitment to the party.
He described the endorsement as a strong expression of the clan’s confidence in the leadership, policies and programmes of the APC, and the administration of Governor Ododo.
Engr. Ezzu said the party valued the support of the Omoye Clan and urged its members to remain united and continue working with other stakeholders to strengthen the APC and promote the development of Kogi State.
Governor Ododo, represented by the Accountant General of Kogi State, Hajiya Habibat Onumoko, conveyed the Governor’s appreciation to the Omoye Clan for its massive support for the administration.
She urged members of the clan to continue to promote peace, unity and development across Ebiraland.
Hajiya Onumoko assured the Omoye Clan that the Ododo administration would remain committed to providing effective leadership and creating enabling environment for the development of the state.
