Prince Abubakar Audu University, (PAAU), Anyigba, Kogi State, has expelled six students for examination misconduct after they were caught rewriting an examination at a lecturer’s residence.

The university disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja on Monday, following the Senate’s 167th Regular Meeting held on August 26, 2026.

According to the statement, the students paid N10,000 each to rewrite BOT102, Introduction to Plant Science, at the lecturer’s residence, days after sitting for the examination on campus.

The university said it took action on July 1 after receiving credible information that a lecturer was coordinating students to rewrite the examination at his residence.

It said security operatives acting on the information, arrested Maji Okpanachi of the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, alongside some students, at the residence behind the Police Area Command Office along Idah Road, Anyigba.

Some relevant exhibits were also recovered during the operation.

The security report was subsequently forwarded to the university’s Examination Misconduct Committee for investigation.

The committee’s submitted its finding to the Senate after concluding its investigation.

After considering the report, the Senate approved the expulsion of the six students.
